It isn't so bad. I just... I know I'm a burden on them. It's a lot to have to give me a place to stay, and with them fighting...

It's better than home.

... I'm asking you, Jacuzzi. Are you happy there right now?

[There is a long heavy moment, where Jacuzzi has to evaluate "happy" and what happy means.

And he remembers those first few weeks with Isaac and Miria and he realizes it was the first time in his life he was really happy. And how much worse it is to be there when he realizes how happy he was.

And he thinks about how happy he is when Nice is around. He's nervous, he's shy, he's honestly scared of hurting her. But she, like Isaac and Miria, sees him as a person, as someone who has feelings outside of his anxiety. As someone who can be something. And his heart thuds in his chest, because he realizes how different it is to feel that way around Nice, as opposed to the parental approval he gained from even a short time around Isaac and Miria.

Jacuzzi completely deflates. His heart's still beating in his throat, and there's a thousand ways he can lie or derail the conversation.

But he won't this time. Because it's Nice, who thinks he listens to her, and who he never wants to have to lie to or hide from.]

I'm not.

[bombgasmic]

[She doesn't smile this time, but it's not a frown either. She just watches him with a steady gaze, and speaks quietly.]

We still got time to figure this out. I got some money saved up, and I can work more hours next semester because of my schedule.

Do you want to try this with me?

... Are you really okay with me?

[He just. One more time. He just wants to make sure.]

[bombgasmic]

I'm more than certain. Just you and me, so you don't have to worry about meeting any more strangers either.

[And then there is just pure relief on Jacuzzi's every feature.]

... I-I think... I'd like to try it...

[A pause. And then she smiles and holds out her hand to him. Do you want to take it?]

You wanna go take a look at a nice one I found? There's an open house today.

[He does indeed want to take it. So he will.]

People are gonna think things...

[gunhearted]

[Nope. Nope he won't say it, instead turning a little red.]

Nothing. Never mind.

[... She nudges a little closer to him.] Let'em. Let them think what they want! To me, you're an important friend, and my future roommate.

[No don't nudge closer. He adjusts his hand so his fingers lace with hers because... it's just easier that way.]

[That makes her happier than she ever expected anything like that to.]

That's kinda weird, to say, I know, but I just--I just want you to know! It means a lot to me.

Nice pulls on that hand and-- she doesn't hug him, she thinks that'll scare him if it's too sudden-- leans against his arm, smiling.]

[Ah she's close!!! Jacuzzi goes a deep red, but turns to her.]

... You must've been thinking about this a lot, though. To know about an open house and everything...

I did my research. I thought if I was gonna bring this up to you, you'd feel better about it if you saw the whole picture and could think about it with as many answers to your questions as possible?

You're really, really together, aren't you? I guess I don't really have a lot of questions, in the end, though...

[Just "are you sure this will make you happy, too?"]

[She just smiles, starts to tug him in the direction they should go.]

I'm on the second floor at Isaac and Miria's place. I--I don't mind wherever we are.
