[Neither Dian was exactly sure how to approach the issue. As late to the punch as they were on so many things, they know how sensitive Jacuzzi is. He might jump to the wrong conclusion if they phrase this the wrong way. They spend a bit of the initial car ride to the hospital just spitballing ideas. Eventually, they decide to go with what feels natural.]
Hey buddy? You might have another housemate soon.
[Still feels like they could have phrased that better.]
Re: [Phone Text; Afternoon, maybe... 4/03 or 4/04?]
[He tries so, so hard to believe in his friendship with the Dians. So hard. He manages to send the text without letting his worry slip into it.
But thirty seconds later, all he can think is that he's just going to be a burden on them and it's best that he leaves--what if this is just a round about way to ask him to go? What if he's really more of a burden than they say he is?
So less than a minute later, there's this:]
if it's easier, i think i could find somewhere else to stay i don't want to take up too much room and a few people offered their place for a few nights it's really small i don't want to put you guys out.
[And with every letter he types, he's crushing something worse than anxiety: crippling despair that he's going to lose the closest thing he's ever had to family. That he's burdening the best friends he's ever had. That he's nothing but trouble.]
[Oh no, he's freaking out. The guy who managed to stand up to Mrs. Harvent is freaking out. But they can ease those fears. Maybe. They hope so. They worry about him so much, but it's gonna work out. The power of friendship will prevail.]
Jacuzzi, you're staying in the guest room. Miria and I will take the pull-out couch and Rakka will take our room while she gets some rest.
You don't ever have to leave if you don't want to.
[THAT FELT TOO BOLD, WAS THAT TOO BOLD? HE ALREADY SENT IT OKAY DON'T WORRY I'M SURE IT'LL GO OVER FINE.]
Oh god oh no. He's said something terrible. They're going to be insulted. They're going to be mad at him. Terror courses through his body and he immediately scrambles to fix it.]
i meant you guys are always outting yourselves lsat to take care of other peoople you need tot hink more about yuorselves and less about us i mean its a good ting you do that because it makes tyou really good people but you cant neglect yourseles too
i odnt want you guys getting sick or hurt or anything
[Isaac is so touched. He is so touched that he doesn't know how to respond for a moment. A curious Miria snatches the phone to see the message for herself.
Miria is so touched. That's their buddy again, putting others before himself like a true champ. Thinking so highly of them and worrying that they might pushing themselves too far. What an inspiring pal. The couple look each other in the eye and nod, already on the same wavelength.]
How about this.
You stay with us and make sure we take good care of ourselves.

Re: [Phone Text; Afternoon, maybe... 4/03 or 4/04?]
You know Rakka? She needed to get away from some home stuff too. So she'll stay with all three of us.
