[She would text because she's going to sound drugged up as fuck but she doesn't want Jacuzzi to freak out more than she knows he will and she thinks it's best to let him hear her. She sounds tired and confused tho.]
[She sounds really tired. Which is weird because it's the middle of the day and he doesn't know if sleeping all day is a thing she normally does but it doesn't seem like it. He's on his way back from helping Isaac and Miria in the shop (he's going to help them until the day he dies). He's really, really cautious when he answers, nervous as to if she's sick or something and maybe he needs to stop and get something when he comes back.]
[... Oh no. Nice is in the hospital. Something happened to Nice. He stops dead in his tracks and turns around, rushing toward a bus stop. (He knows how to get to the hospital from pretty much any place in town. It's how he stays alive with his panic attacks and asthma attacks.)]
That's--[He wants to yell no, Nice, that's really bad!!! As it is, he's giving up on the bus and waving down a taxi omg. He's never good at this kind of thing.]
I-I'll be there as soon as I can, okay?! Just--just--I'll be there, I promise!
[Nice's mama will greet him in the lobby and lead him to Nice's room where she's trying to fiddle with her phone with hands numb from painkillers. She's wearing a hospital gown, and the parts of her arms, neck, and face that stick out from underneath it are wrapped in bandages. She'll look up at him and smile.]
[It reminds him of the echo he got once upon a time before he knew her. He doesn't like it. He feels cold inside. He stands just inside the door and he feels completely helpless because this was never supposed to happen to her.]
[But you're not okay, Nice. You're definitely not okay. He moves forward at a snail's pace before he takes her hand.]
I-I'm so sorry, Nice. I shoulda been there. I--[He's not going to cry because Nice needs him not to cry right now and he knows that much he has to be the one not crying.]
[He shakes his head at her, tightening his grip on her hand just a little.]
I-I'd rather be there when you needed me. [He is very conscious of Nice's mama when he leans down to kiss Nice's unbandaged cheek. He feels terrible.] We're still just us. B-besides, you're gonna get better. Maybe we can find a healer and--and I'm sure you're gonna be able to use your eye again... m-maybe...
... I'm not scared. [She leans into him a little, not letting go of his hand.]
I'm not scared. I know. I know because Nice told me, when I remembered when this happened to her. I'm not scared 'cause I know I won't be alone. I've got mom, and my family, and more than that I've got you.
Of course you're not gonna be alone! [Jeeze, Nice, do you not realize that a relationship with Jacuzzi is like love super glue?] No matter what happens, you're not gonna be alone.
[Mama Holystone isn't saying anything. She's relieved her daughter's got someone. although she raises an eyebrow at the combination of "friends" and kissing.]
Um, they're nothing that I won't recover from, but it'll probably leave scars. We gotta keep an eye on my eye, but I won't be stuck here for long. Just a few days.

I'll come every day. A-and I'll make sure things are okay at home, too, so don't worry about anything!

Nice giggles]
I know! I'm not worried at all -- I'll do my best so I get better and we can properly live together, okay?
